Our Goals

We aim to equip the refugees’ social resilience, building up personal competence, belongingness and optimism,
which are very important for facing the unknown no matter where they are.

Who are Refugees?

Refugees are those that are forced to leave their countries due to war, disasters, genocide, religious or political persecution. When they leave their own countries, they are often violently treated and therefore lost their identity, families and homes.

The Difficulties of Refugees

There are around 13,000 of them currently living in Hong Kong. According to the 1951 Geneva Convention, Hong Kong does not belong to the contracting party. Instead, this city only serves as a transit station for them. It can take three, five or even up to ten years for them to apply for a “refugee” claim. Before a “refugee” status is established, the person is referred to as an “asylum seeker”. Meanwhile, they are not allowed to work legally here. They mainly rely on government subsidy at around $3000 per person per month. Many of them emotionally and mentally drained, facing the long term unknown with limited resources.

The True Meaning of Serving Refugees

To be the Light in the darkness...No one knows how long the refugees would stay in Hong Kong, neither can anyone change all that they are facing, but our love, acceptance, connection and respect for them act like love bullets to give them power to face the unknown. When their hearts are gradually restored, they begin to see the world differently and able to explore the possibilities ahead.
